Event on Role Play – Drug Abuse and Awarenes Organized by: SKS College of Nursing, in association with the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Salem Branch Date & Venue: March 26, 2025, at SKS Hospital Clinical OPD Overview of the Event: The Fifth Semester B.Sc. Nursing students of SKS College of Nursing performed a role play on drug abuse and awareness on March 26, 2025, at SKS Hospital Clinical OPD. This initiative was organized in collaboration with the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Salem Branch, with the objective of educating patients and their attendants about the harmful effects of substance abuse. Key Highlights of the Role Play: The students enacted a dramatized presentation focusing on: – The use of alcohol and illicit drugs and their impact on physical and mental health. – The consequences of drug addiction on individuals, families, and society. – The availability of treatment and rehabilitation options for substance abuse. Through this interactive role play, students effectively raised awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of seeking timely help. The audience, including patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, actively engaged in the session and appreciated the efforts of the students. Guest Appreciation & Felicitation: The event was graced by the presence of Sree Vasantha, B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Phil., Chairman, SKS College of Nursing, who praised the students for their impactful performance. In her speech, she emphasized how drug abuse affects families and children, highlighting the emotional and social suffering caused by addiction. Dr. Vishnu Prasath, MS (Orthopaedics), DNB (Orthopaedics), FNB (Spine Surgery), Honorary Secretary, Indian Medical Association, Salem Branch, also appreciated the students’ efforts. Recognizing their dedication to creating awareness, he honored the students with a cash prize as a token of encouragement. Conclusion: The role play on drug abuse and awareness was a remarkable success, spreading a strong message on the need for preventive measures and rehabilitation. The students’ performance was well-received by the audience and acknowledged by eminent personalities from the healthcare sector. This initiative reinforced the importance of community education in addressing substance abuse and promoting a healthy, drug-free society.
